Haiti March 2010
On the 26th March i was part of a team that went into Port Au Prince Haiti with Ben Cerullo Ministries.
As soon as we arrived it felt like i was back in Sierra Leone, except there was destruction all over the place. The people seemed very oppressed and hopeless, with seemingly no joy. This made me really sad to see a nation in such turmoil and without an easy way to recovery. I got the impression that the people don't know how to help themselves, they have just continued to live on top of the devastation. Life roles on.
Port Au Prince, Haiti, from the air.
The blue and white are tent cities. Everywhere you turn, on every road there are tents.

Houses have fallen everywhere. One man said that the class system has fallen and everyone is now in the same position with Nothing!
A lot of the buildings, if not fallen, look like they are about to go.
There were small children playing in the shadow of the building that looks like it is about to fall down.
This building has now become a footpath from a tent city to the main road. Nothing seems to be getting better very quickly.

I am sure the Haitian people are very kind people, but they seemed very skeptical of outsiders. In one sense, they seem to expect and rely on outside help, but then they also looked so defeated and without any hope. So sad.

We came to Haiti to bring hope by giving them a good time. Their carnival had been cancelled which means they have nothing to look forward to. We brought 3 bands - Prodigal Son, a reggae band from Jamaica; The Ambassador, from Philadelphia; and JR instereo. The goal was to give them a good time and tell them about the hope they can have through Jesus Christ.

This lady is a nurse. She had the most amazing spirit, a true carer.

Sad faces everywhere.

The bottom line, WE NEED HELP. I believe they need spiritual aid as well as physical aid.
